Kristiana and Dave | The After Shoot | Santa Barbara Wedding Photography -
I’m in love with this session.
We began at the Trinity Episcopal Church, moved on to the Douglas Preserve, and ended with night shots at the Mission.
I might just start recommending “After Shoots” to everyone! While every day should be a celebration of love, this session gave Kristiana and Dave the chance to hold onto that “wedding experience” a little longer.
We celebrated their love, without the pressure. They were able to spend more time with the guests, at their actual wedding, and now they have plenty of that “Wall Art,” they so desired.
Oh, and by the way, the fifth image is my new favorite bridal portrait. Love a strong woman! :)

Kristiana and Dave - Montecito Butterfly Beach Wedding
I posted a sneak peek of this wedding in November, and now posting more!
First off, let me say…LOVE this couple!
You may remember Kristiana and Dave from an engagement session I posted in September…

I love that Kristiana and Dave are so in love, they couldn’t wait to get married.
They planned their wedding in record time…all the while, working full-time and running marathons! :)
Since everything happened so quickly, after the wedding, we decided to do an “After Shoot.” Keep an eye out for their spectacular “After Shoot” in one of my upcoming blog posts. I might start recommending “After Shoots” to all of my brides and grooms! :)
Congratulations, to the beautiful newlyweds! So happy for you.

Umphrey’s McGee | House of Blues | Los Angeles
I’ve seen Umphrey’s McGee live in concert more than any other band, but haven’t seen them as much lately because I’ve been so busy building my wedding and portrait photography business. This past weekend, it was nice to take a break from wedding photography to be a rock photographer.
It was a great show, and an amazing experience…a HUGE thank you to Umphrey’s McGee!
Yvonne and Jacob’s Romantic Santa Barbara Wedding.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!
Everything about this wedding was bold and romantic, so I had to post it on Valentine’s Day. The bride awoke, starting her day by receiving the most gorgeous earrings from the groom. I could tell how much they meant to Yvonne, because she told about losing similar earrings on a trip with Jake, one time. The loss was a heartbreaking one, so this gift meant even more. She quickly decided against wearing the earrings she had brought.
I love how Yvonne exudes romance…I absolutely loved her style. Her dress was from Rosa Clara’s Aire Barcelona Collection. Also, I love her bouquet of dark red roses. Joni Papay, at Hearts Bloom, created the flower arrangements that connected the bold reds and purples perfectly.
The wedding cake introduced some pink into the mix, with beautiful pink and red roses playing against each other, between each layer of delicious cake. The cake was designed by Christine Dahl Pastries. The wedding was even more intimate, because it was held at a private residence. Chef Yosi added to that ambiance by preparing foods from all of Yvonne and Jacob’s different travels.
There are many other elements to a wedding like this. First of all, Belle Events helped with the pre-wedding consultation, and Ashley Monser was the day-of coordinator. Gail Lucas Design created the tree artwork, while Tracy and Lazaro Press designed the wedding invitations. Equipment was rented from Classic Party Rentals. Reverend Thomas James was the officiant, and started the day off right…while DJ Akorn, from Gavin Roy’s Santa Barbara DJs, ended the night with a bang.
This wedding was a hit! …I didn’t even mention the little red fire truck, and all of the firemen in attendance :) Romantic to the last detail.
Fun Artistic Wedding Photographs.
I’ve always had an affinity for the abstract. I love it when a photograph breaks the rules, yet is still successful.
There are many qualities to a successful photograph. A photograph can have a certain quality of light, appropriate contrast and color, proper composition, a particular depth of field and focus, possible texture, interesting subject matter, and my favorite: real emotion.
I love it when the spontaneity of the wedding day causes me to document something unexpected and artistic.
Sometimes, rules are meant to be broken.
What do you think?
Happy 90th, Hello Snow, and Goodbye High School Swimming Pool
Recently, I went back to my home state of Indiana, to celebrate my Grandmother’s 90th birthday. If you can’t tell, she loves blue! I’m so glad I got to be with her on such an important birthday. She was in a car accident, and her recovery has been difficult…I think she looks simply marvelous, especially knowing everything she has been through the last couple of years. I was a proud granddaughter, looking at all of her 48 birthday cards. Wonder if I’ll ever get that many birthday cards?!
While in Indiana, the weather went from snowstorm to thunderstorm…I forgot how crazy the weather is there!
Lastly, I was able to do some of the “everyday activities” with my nephews. Accompanied them to swim practice a few times, and had to document the pool area, because they will be tearing it down soon. The Plymouth High School had their last swim meet in the high school pool while I was there. I grew up swimming in that pool, so it is a little sad for me.
If anyone is interested in helping Plymouth, IN fund a new indoor pool, please contact me, and I’ll put you in touch with someone!
