Santa Barbara Photographer Goes to Europe (2010)

Part 3: Segovia

~A Photo Story~

On our walk back from the palace, the proverbial brick wall started to hit us both really hard, so we immediately stopped at the nearest place for an emergency “cortado.”  By the looks of my husband in one of the last pictures, the “cortado” was not working.  We were struggling big time.  I have to say, the architecture did make it all worthwhile…I was getting to see places I had learned about in Art History!

The last two images are of our train ride back to Madrid.  The sky was so colorful, but my stomach felt so empty.  I was relieved to see I still had Tato Skins and fruit snacks I bought at the LA airport.  I can’t say “cortados,” Tato Skins and fruit snacks are the best meal.  Luckily, when we got back to Madrid, Dan showed us some of the best home-style tapas in town.

At the first place, we had mini turkey burgers with mustard. At the next place, we had slow-cooked turkey, with bread to dip in the sauce.  There were peppercorns floating in the sauce, and they flavored the meal perfectly.  These tapas were exactly what I needed…comfort food!  We soon felt revived enough to go see some music…this made it particularly painful the next morning when we were met with yet another early morning jackhammer.

Coming Soon:  Part 4

Will we make it to Toledo or will we get a hotel and sleep? :)  Are you interested in seeing Part 4?  Have you enjoyed my images of Madrid and Segovia, so far?
